The stone displays an iridescent optical effect, known as labradorescence. As you move it and when light hits at different angles, it flashes shades of color, almost like fish scale.  Inuit lore say labradorite fell from the fire of the Aurora Borealis: the northern lights. It is said to enhance mental abilities, bring out the best in people, temper the negative and possess healing properties.
